Bo Gardiner is an environmental analyst, naturalist, writer, and humanist/skeptic organizer. She’s a former research hydrologist, EPA consultant, wildlife program director for a national NGO, and TV writer/producer. She holds a B.A. in communications and M.S. in environmental engineering sciences.
Growing up in an intensely political but conservative Christian home, Bo’s campaigning life began as an anti-feminist Christian youth leader. At a Jesuit university she dove into the New Age, creating a local TV series on all things fringe, from reincarnation to psychic training, and organized a major UFO symposium. Quite logically, all this produced a humanist, feminist, environmentalist and skeptic. After coming of age in south Florida and New Orleans, she now lives in Virginia.
A naturalist in both senses of the word (both nature study and seeking the natural over the supernatural), Bo geeks out on botanizing and birds; writing on science, nature, skepticism, and religion at her blog Under the Greenwood Tree. She’s a regular contributor to the hugely popular blog The Friendly Atheist and creates skeptical humanist videos for YouTube. Other websites have also featured Bo’s work.
